TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS
Before starting any trouble diagnosis
procedure, make an overall visual inspection
of the entire system, and then install Pressure
Test Gauge Manifold.
For Installation Instructions see steps 1, 2
and 3 under "Pressure Testing, Evacuating
and Charging System".
CONDITION
POSSIBLE CAUSE
1 System will not pro-

show bubbles and

will show excessively
low read-ings.
CORRECTION
Check for leaks, and
charge system until
bubbles disappear
and pressure returns
to normal.
Defective expansion
valve.
Excessively high and
excessively low pres-
sure readings.
Pump system down
and replace
expansion valve.
Obstruction in air cir-
culating system.
Blowers will not cir-
culate correct
amount of air.
Check and clean air filter,
check for block-ed grille
in rear seat riser, or rear
seat package tray. Check
flexible air ducts for tears
or restrictions.
Defective
modulator valve.
High pressure
reading below
normal low pres-sure
reading above
normal.
Replace valve.
2 . Unit will produce 
no refrigeration
Loose or broken drive
belt.
Pressure readings
will be the same on
both the high and
low pres-sure gauges
at any en-g i ne
Tighten or replace
belt.
Inoperative valves in
compressor.
Pressure readings
will vary only slightly
on both the high and
low pressure gauges
at any engine speed.
Replace compressor. (Note:
Check expansion valve to
make sure it is not stuck in
the open position).
Break in any part of
closed refrigeration
system.
No pressure in any
part of the system.
Replace defective
part, install new de-
hydrator.
