NOTE: If the tips of the choke plate screws have been flared-out excessively by staking, it is advisable to file off the flared-out portion to avoid damaging the threads in the choke shaft when removing the screws. Be careful
(10) Loosen the power valve (27). Invert the casting and catch the power valve and its gasket (28). Discard these parts.

(11) To remove the pump discharge valve retainer (29), drive a punch or a chisel pointed piece of drill rod firmly into its center at a flat angle. Then pry out the retainer. Invert the casting and catch the pump discharge needle valve (30). Discard these parts.
(12) To remove the pump operating rod felt seal (32) and retainer (31), insert a rod through the hole from above at an angle. When the end of the rod meets the retainer, drive the retainer out. Discard these parts.
This completes the disassembly of the carburetor. The next step in the overhaul procedure is the cleaning and inspection of all the component parts of the carburetor.

(5) Remove the main jet passage plug (11) and discard the gasket (12). Remove the main jet (13) and discard it.
(6) With a 516" wrench, remove the nut (14) on the end of the choke shaft. Remove the lock washer (15), round shouldered hub (16), choke lever and swivel assembly (17), and the choice pin and lever assembly (18).
(7) Remove the screw (19) and lockwasher (20) holding the choke bracket assembly (21) to the
carburetor. Remove this assembly. (8) Remove the two choke plate screws (22) and the choke plate (23). Discard the two screws. Slide the choke shaft (24) out of the casting.

(9) With long needle nose pliers, remove the pump check valve retainer (25). Invert the casting and catch the pump ball check (26). Discard these parts.
